Big River Picture Framing was built on a simple belief: if something is worth creating or keeping, it's worth putting it in a frame.
We're proud to be an independent small, Brisbane-based business specialising in custom raw timber picture framing.
Every frame is handcrafted from sustainably sourced raw oak and individually cut, sanded, stained, waxed and finished by hand. We embrace the natural character of the timber to create frames that are beautifully individual and completely unique.
We see every frame as an extension of the artwork it surrounds. Whether it's an original painting, a family photograph, an old, worn-out gig poster (our favourite) or a treasured keepsake, our goal is always the same - to create a frame that complements the piece, reflects your vision, and will be enjoyed for years to come.
Our Story
What began as a passion project has evolved into something much more.
Big River Picture Framing started in 2014 as a small and simple home-based set-up, built on a love of art, and natural materials. We quickly built lasting relationships, and before long we were helping artists, photographers, families and local businesses frame the things that mattered most to them.
As the business grew, so did our appreciation for the role our craft could play. We never saw our work as simply building frames, but as helping preserve memories, celebrate creativity and tell stories.
In late 2019, an unexpected opportunity led us in a different direction and Big River was placed on hold. But the passion never disappeared.
Now - Big River is back.
With the same handmade philosophy, the same commitment to quality, and a renewed appreciation for creative independence, we're excited to once again be building custom raw timber frames for, and with our beloved Brisbane community.
